The deadly Glioblastoma

Today, a beautiful young woman was taken away because of  Glioblastoma grade IV.  Her tumor was so massive and aggressive that it was non-operable.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) (also called glioblastoma) is a fast-growing glioma that develops from star-shaped glial cells (astrocytes and oligodendrocytes) that support the health of the nerve cells within the brain.

GBM is often referred to as a grade IV astrocytoma. These are the most invasive type of glial tumors, rapidly growing and commonly spreading into nearby brain tissue.

Sad beyond words.  The pain of counting down the days when my beloved Toby was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma.  Both Tob and this beautiful daughter were born in August, a week apart.  They were both taken by deadly aggressive tumors.  The consolation was their sickness was short and they both passed away peacefully.

This blog has now expanded in a sad way from hemangiosarcoma to glioblastoma.  From the death of a much-loved dog to a death of a young beautiful woman, a much-loved daughter to her parents, and sister to her siblings.
